I know there are some people who really can’t eat gluten. And I am so sorry. Although they looked good, they nonetheless have my compassion.
For the rest of us bread eaters, fresh home bread is a healthy, frugal, and TASTY way to go.
Bak bread at home is one those “the easier you do” task . At firstly, idea working with yeast & KNEADING can be off-put . But it can also be relaxing to slow down for thirty minutes to mix in dough. And mixing, stirring, and kneading is a great time to invite the kids into the kitchen.
° 1 1/2 cup lukewarm water
° 1 tablespoon of honey
° 1 teaspoon of Salt
° 2 packets of instant or fast rising yeast (1 tbsp)
° 4 – 5 cups of flour
Combine 2 cups of flour, water, honey, salt and baking powder. I like using a stand mixer with the dough hook, but this dough can be easily combined in a large bowl. Add more flour to the mixture until the dough is firm and no longer sticky.
Knead dough in the bowl of a stand mixer or on a floured surface for about 5 minutes. Placing dough in a light greased bowl. Covering & permit stand until doubled, for 21 min . Pierce dough, remove all air bubbles.
Meanwhile, preheated oven 400 ° F.
Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and transfer the yeast dough to the foil. Form in the form of bread. Using a very sharp knife, make 2 or 3 diagonal bars on the French bread. Brush the bread with cold water and cook for 20 to 30 minutes.
